Donnie Trumpet), and was created by Segal along with his band of collaborators called The Social Experiment — a self-described group of bohemian musicians, consisting of Donnie Trumpet, Chance The Rapper, Peter Cottontale, Greg Landfair Jr. and Nate Fox. The album was highly anticipated because of Chance's heavy involvement with the group, contributing vocals and some of the arrangements to the album. Surf was downloaded 618,000 times via iTunes in its first week, with over 10 million individual track downloads.
==Background and artwork==
A possible album cover was tweeted by Chance The Rapper's younger brother and fellow Chicago-based rapper Taylor Bennett, on April 30, 2015 – the two year anniversary of the release of Chance's sophomore effort, ''Acid Rap''. The painted cover followed the theme set by ''#10 Day'', featuring Chance's face in the foreground with a scenic ocean background. Chance wears a yellow bandana with the Social Experiment 'SoX' logo on the right side, and "SURF" is written across the top in a tie-dye mixture of green, blue, pink and purple. Bennett tweeted the caption "N-E Day Now." with the possible artwork, hinting that the impending release would be very soon. The artwork, created by Elijah Maura, is black and white and features a photograph of a pile of sand with a message in a bottle drawn as if stuck in the sand after being washed ashore.
